I currently live in Prescott but am wanting to move to Tucson. I am wanting to move mostly because of the cost of living is less and I miss the sun. I lived in Las Vegas for 19 years so I am OK with hot summers. I initially was thinking of moving to Tempe but it is more expensive than I thought. I work from home so looking for a job is not an issue. Has anyone else on this forum made the move from Prescott to Tucson? I am a single professional with two dogs, no kids. Any thoughts on areas to avoid, areas to consider? I am healthy and like to bike, walk, happy hours, and I walk my dogs everyday. Thanks.

I was just there this past week, I stayed in Vail which in southeast Tucson, so beautiful there, little distance from everything but I liked it. I also liked Green Valley.

You don't have to answer but I'm curious, since people usually go the other way: Why did you move to Prescott to begin with?

I think the trend is changing. Tucson is attractive to a lot of people: it's more affordable than Phoenix metro, Flagstaff, Prescott, Payson etc. and still has most of the perks of those areas.

Is Prescott really that much less sunny than Tucson is? I know Tucson is more affordable but aren't both cities in the Arizona Sun Corridor?

^^^I was thinking the same thing. Lack of sun in Prescott? Maybe the OP lives in a forest area under the shade of tall trees?

Maybe overcast a lot in Prescott because they get snow in the winter? Dunno. I have not been there.

Prescott much of it not tree covered. If looking for more large pine trees, I would say Payson area.
Have a few friends that moved from Prescott to northern Tucson.
They moved to Saddlebrooke from there.
We had looked at Prescott before Saddlebrooke also. So have asked why they ended up changing.
They mentioned windy and colder. Not much snow.
More trees and variety of views and community amenities.
Where they were at was apparently more shrub tree and open.
But imagine you would have to get up in elevation at Tucson area to see that benefit.

Maybe the OP means that she misses the heat, Prescott is downright cold!
