what happened to Sports being shown on the weekends nbc, abc, cbs all i see is paid programs, paid programs and paid programs

when i was growing up i'd see it all, track and field, US pan american games, college football on all networks, college basketball. and much more

it seems like its diminishing.

I'd imagine the main part of that is b/c of cable channels - mainly ESPN - that have taken most of that programming. Add in the Big 10 Network, Fox Sports, CBS College Sports to name a few others, and there's not a whole lot left to be shown on network TV! Heck, even starting in 2011 the NCAA basketball tourney won't be shown fully on CBS as they are sharing the games w/Turner Sports. I agree though, growing up in the late 80s & 90s, there was nothing like a NBA on NBC triple-header, or CBS airing a college basketball triple-header on a Saturday.
