Don't you love these? I'm not referring to Foley Artists who recreate actual sounds--creaking doors, footsteps, etc., but the subtle background music and sounds that often add humor to a scene.
They're very evident in cooking shows, for example. Top Chef judges might have been praising someone's dish, when one judge remarks that the duck was dry. Then we hear a soft but deep drum in the background. Or one contestant might say something snarky to another one, and we'll hear the "record scratch" sound.
Not long ago, I was watching Say Yes To The Dress when the bride-to-be finally found something she liked. Harp music was playing in the background as she walked out to show her entourage. One of her friends proceeded to rattle off about 10 things she didn't like about the gown, with increasingly noisy "buzzing bees" sounding in the background lol.
