I dont remember anything about this mid 80's film other than after Abe Lincoln gives the Gettysburg Address he tells to a colleague that he feels the speech was not liked because nobody applauded. The man says to him "It would have been like applauding The Lord's Prayer."

Does anyone know which film this was?

The only 80's film that I can think of is Gore Vidal's Lincoln starring Sam Waterson.

Lincoln (TV 1988) - IMDb

"The Perfect Tribute", based on a book, contains that line but it came out 1991- close enough to 1980's I suppose!

Would have to have been in mid 80s because my sister had to watch it for some class and she graduated in 87.

I'm pretty sure that was from The Blue and The Gray, which came out in 1982. If my memory serves me correctly (of course I could just check IMDB) it was the character played by Stacy Keach saying it to Gregory Peck's Abraham Lincoln.
