So last night, I guess, to honor those who fought and died during the Japanese sneak attack on December 7, 1941, the History Channel gave us the movie Pearl Harbor.
Seriously? This was the best they could do? A goofy Ben Affleck love story?
But again, this is the same channel devoted to such historical events as Pawn Stars, American Pickers, Swamp People and Hairy Bikers.
What a disappointment the "History" Channel has become.
Last night the History Channel showed a documentary 24 Hours After Pearl Harbor. Fascinating. Too mad they didn't advertise it like they do their stupid shows like Pawn Stars. I found it by accident while channel surfing.

I remember when the History Channel first came out; we used to call it The Hitler Channel because most of their shows were about The Holocaust. I admit, I am very disappointed with its current programming like "Pawn Stars".....such a clever play on words.

Has become home to a series of low brow reality shows loosely based on history. Try the Military Channel.
It's the same with all of them. DIY is the place they show all the informational stuff on the family of H&G networks. Another tier up in your fee schedule. Discovery had spun off the real meat to the Science channel. Same thing. History had both the Military channel and History International. Last month Dish had both Science and the Military Channel as a free preview. Filled up the dvr.
If we could have plans based on the number of channels we picked, without 'tiers' then I bet they wouldn't have split the meat up to the more expensive ones.
Good thing is most of the documentaries end up on netflix.
Yes, Pearl Harbor was a lousy movie. It's only good for eating popcorn to, then falling asleep.
The two hour docomentary on Pearl Harbor, all real stuff, between what was happening in Washington and in Hawaii, sort of makes up for it, broadcast yesterday. What I carried away from that most of all was the oddness of a large chunk of the pacific fleet being destroyed and even the president didn't know details until the next day. I kept thinking if 9-11 had happened that way, and we didn't know until the next day, how different it would have felt.

And looking at Kate Beckinsale
