From Wik:
Jumping the shark is an idiom used to describe the moment in the evolution of a television show when it begins a decline in quality, signaled by a particular scene, episode, or aspect of a show in which the writers use some type of "gimmick" in an attempt to keep viewers' interest, and taken as a sign of desperation.
My nomination for biggest "shark jump" goes to...
What was with the creepy dancing fetus anyway? Anything after the second episode of the first season was pure extract of garbage.
I don't watch many modern shows other than Big Bang Theory (which I can't imagine ever jumping the shark, but of the older shows that I watch the most, I vote for Happy Days (the very origin of the phrase 'jumping the shark'), The Bob Newhart show when they brought in that lame chick as Bob's sister Ellen, or The Andy Griffith Show for bringing in irritating characters like Howard Sprague in a futile attempt to replace the brilliant Don Knotts and Howard McNear
seriously, just go and watch some older episodes, I watched a couple from 2008, what a difference.
================================================== =======
Sheldon was quirky but didn't act like a 5 year old at nap time
no Bernadette anger
no male bashing
amy's character was funny, you didn't spend the whole time feeling sorry for her b/c the way she's treated
by Sheldon
howard's one-liners
no 'bits' that went on and on and on and on that weren't funny, no robot throwing ball, no underground mine scene, no distracted and can't focus on our weekend of creativity

"Cheers". After Diane departed they went from being a witty show which assumed an intelligent audience, to being largely a slapstick/sight gag/prankersterism style show. The Sam character seemed to lose about 50 IQ points.
Runner up....M*A*S*H...went from being a sit com to being the moral lesson of the week, too much sit and not enough com.
Two and a Half Men. Obviously when Charlie checked out.
