But Ziva's Israeli or something isn't she? I don't mind characters with accents as long as they're believable. I don't think hers is, so it's annoying.

I watch the news. And I saw a couple epis with Zeva's father and IIRC his accent was much different. I actually don't have a good memory of what he sounded like, but at least it didn't grate on me.

Zeva's father on the show was Michael Nouri, the guy who was the love interest of Jennifer Beals in Flash Dance, and Glenn Close's ex-husband on Damages. He's an American, born in Washington D.C., so his accent on NCIS was all acting...hardly an authentic Israeli accent.

Cote does have an accent, it's just a little more pronounced on NCIS, and she's given it a touch of Israeli. It's a fairly accurate accent...

When Cote first started playing Ziva, I thought she was Israeli. Her accent was no worse than "Troy" from STTNG when she played the Mossad agent.

It always amazes me how so many actors who play Middle Eastern or Russian roles can do the accents. There have been a couple of actors I've seen play Middle Easterners (bad guys, usually) on one show, then the next thing I know, they're playing an American (and clean shaven) good-guy dad or husband on another show.

Just like how amazed I am when I learn an actor is NOT American! I used to think actors like Nicole Kidman and Mel Gibson were for the longest time until I heard them speak in their real accents. That just truly amazes me.

I think Mel Gibson's "real accent" is American. He was born in Peekskill, New York. Nicole Kidman was born in Hawaii to Australian parents. Both are American citizens by birth.

Michael Nouri's father was from Baghdad.

There have been a few Israeli-born actors who have appeared on NCIS.

Rudolf Martin, who played terrorist Ari Haswari, Ziva's half-brother, is German.
