Mr Bean the old TV episodes, some of the funniest TV I've seen.
Was Mr Bean big in the USA? or did it not really tap into the US market?

My mom used to love watching him with my son. I think she even bought one of his movies on VHS.

Not nearly as big in the US as in the UK + her territories. His movie did pretty well here if I remember correctly, and reruns of his show play on public television in the US, but otherwise the phenomenon never fully took hold here. My wife (from the British Caribbean) had me watch some of his shows after his Olympic appearance, and he really is a great physical humorist.

I love the show! Like Natural said, it never really took off in the US like it did in the UK. The first movie did alright, but really felt nothing like the tv show. I think they felt they were really just introducing this character to the US audiences so they rehashed a lot of the same jokes he did on the show, but it just didn't feel right. The second movie, Mr. Bean's Holiday, I thought felt much more like the show as they didn't try to make him over for American audiences. It made slightly less in the US than the first movie and I like it much better than the first movie.

I still have never seen the animated cartoon they did of Mr. Bean.

I love the show, and my kids absolutely adore it. The little ones especially. But we showed it to my grandmother, and she was genuinely disturbed by it. So much so that she left the room. Oh, well. Just shows the difference in generations.

Another difference between the movies and the TV show is that in the movies, Bean is a nicer person. He's still clueless and accident prone. But in the movies he is so lost in his own world that he's genuinely mean at times. He often doesn't hesitate to do nasty things to other people in order to get his own way.

They're okay. Not nearly as good as the TV show, but not bad.

I did not see the show when it was introduced here but subsequently watched it online at Hulu.com

Amazing actor and just laugh-out-loud funny.
I rented all his movies after that...

It became big here, when PBS stations started buying and airing it in the 1990's.

It is a favorite series of mine.
