Anyone watching this - on the Sci Fi channel? Seems quite interesting, and looked from the previews saw during the turkey days.
I don't have cable/dish, so will have to catch it later. Anyhow, give a post if saw it, and your thoughts...
I'm watching it right now.
I saw the previews last week and am a fan of 'The Wizard of Oz' so I figured this would be a fun show to watch.
It's kept my interest up so far.
I thought overall it was good. The reinvention of the characters and storyline were good. The script could have been better and I think they stole some from the "Star Wars" props and sets. And please, no more bad guys in long black leather coats. I wish they would make a new version of OZ for the movie theaters. But this one is worth watching.
The ending wasn't very original, I agree. Zooey Deschanel made a great Dorothy. And I developed a strong crush on Alan Cumming, "Glitch." The little dog was cute, too.
We DVR-ed the series. I am no science fiction fan (boyfriend watches Sci-Fi Channel religiously) but I myself was pleasantly surprised.
I DVR-ed it also and finally got the time to watch it this last weekend. I did not realize it was a OZ remake until after I started watching. I enjoyed the recast of the roles into a new storyline. I kept trying to make the associations I have always made to the scarecrow, lion and tin woodsman, but could not make the complete jump.
I liked the twist at the end where the remake turned into more of a sequel instead. It gave it a modern sci-fi feel instead of simply a movie remake. I agree that the ending needed more development and seemed to conclude everything much too quickly and easily compared to the buildup of the "quest". I think the final part of the quest should have been more drawn out and the battle of good and evil needed more special effects, but that is probably just a "guy" thing.
Here is a link to a live interview with the writers/executive producers of Tin Man, Craig Van Sickle and Steven Mitchell...

We covered a lot on the show from Tin Man gossip and speculation to how the project came together. From their pitch to the studios, to possible alternate endings, to everything in-between, these former stand-up comedians kept the interview lively, and fun. Check it out.
