I used to have the same complaints when I lived in the Chicago area. In Denver the games are over at a decent time. I can only imagine how people in the EST feel...that has to suck.

The ideal schedule would be...
Early game= 12 pm ET/9 AM PT;
Late game= 3:30 pm ET/12:30 PT;
Night game= 7 pm ET/4 pm PT;

Something a little earlier would be good. I'd could like to watch a first quarter before switching to 'Masterpiece Theatre', then switch back for the last quarter.

Doubt anything will change anytime soon. The networks are getting great ratings now for football, and with the importance of the Eastern Time Zone for TV (especially those Prime Time games), things will stay status quo.

I'm in Tucson, and when you're on DST, we're on Los Angeles time, so games are at 10:00 a.m., 1:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. and that's too early for me. But, after DST we're on Denver time. Since I get both time zones during a season, I've found I like the Mountain Time Zone hours better~~ 11:00 a.m., 2:00 p.m., and 5:00 p.m. I don't usually watch the night games unless it's the Broncos, so when games are over by 5:00 or so, we still get our local news, 60 Minutes and the regular Sunday night line up with no delays.

Not possible because the 4pm games are not over until 7:30pm. So it's no way a Sunday Night game can start while the 4pm games have not ended yet. I do think they should start at 8pm not 8:40 so it can be over with by 11:15. For some odd reason NFL games that start at 8:30/40pm on NBC seem to end at almost 12am which is odd because the games on CBS and FOX all end in 3 hours and 15 mins.

Some games on FOX at 4pm start at 4:05pm but it's the primetime games that start at 4:25pm

FOX and CBS do the Sunday afternoon games. The network that has the doubleheader scheduled sets their late games to start at 4:25 ET/1:25 PT.

Games in prime time (NFL Network, NBC, ESPN) may be at the whim of those networks doing "TV timeouts". That would make the games played at night last longer.

The CBS games that are not the PRIME matchup at 4pm starts at 4:05pm

Move to the west (best) coast and you wont have this problem. I LOVE my football. 10:00 AM Sunday early games folllowed by the 1:00 PM games, then at 4:00 when the 1:00 PM game ends, the 4:00-4:15 Sunday Night game comes on. Its awesome. Football is done for the day no later than 7:30 PM and I still have time to go out, or do whatever before time to prepare for work the next day.

Monday night football starts earlier now at 5:25 PM when the old timey MNF that I grew up watching started at 6:00. Done by 8:30 and still have time to do whatever before sleep.

So much better being in Los Angeles on the west coast.
