Did anyone watch the new episode?
I was appalled that the family hosted a Christmas party while a member of the family was in the hospital fighting for her life.

Why shouldn't they throw a Christmas party? The family member in question was 3 hours away and there was nothing they could have done to make it better.

The term "party" is probably what's throwing you off. It wasn't a party, it was an open house where friends and family came over to spend time together. I see absolutely nothing wrong with it. If I were in the situation and had no control over the family member in the hospital, then my life would go on as normal, too. It's not like they were literally out partying...

I dont really think a duggar "party" would be the same as a party I have lol

I agree nothing wrong with it. Life goes on.

My mom died 2 years ago. I know for a fact she would rather us have gone to a christmas party than to sit there and watch her die. I know this situation is different, but life still goes on.

Wow. I had no idea my thinking was so against the norm. To me it sends the message that the individuals do not matter. Like nobody cares that she is suffering. Just because they can not be there doesn't mean they should be having fun, JMHO.

Were they supposed to sit at home crying and twiddling their thumbs instead?

No but there is a middle ground.

I watched it. I wasn't particularly upset that they had the party. I noticed how tired Josh and Anna looked taking care of all those kids, including a 1 year old and their own 3 month old. I was kind of surprised that the whole birth and all were documented on camera. I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Suzie should write a book on how to act when someone is in the hospital.

I guess they should have all sat in an uncomfortable hospital waiting room where they could do nothing to help the situation. Now what exactly would that middle ground have been?

This is sort of odd, because my dad is currently in the hospital. I was going to take my wife and son out to dinner tonight, but that might make me a bad person.
