Five years ago, I upped my cable package because I could no longer find programming I liked on basic cable. I must have cable because my apartment complex is in a valley and I can receive only five over-the-air channels. When I attempted to go without cable for six weeks in 2010, I went nuts with boredom--I spent a lot of time at my mother's house or going to the movies, and that was expensive!
I know many of you have talked about eliminating cable, but I am a 54-year-old female who doesn't watch sports, reality TV or procedurals. I know a number of people over 50 who have increased their cable packages.
I don't have the desire or time to download an entire series or get the series on DVD and then binge-watch it over one weekend.
These are some of the series I've watched in the past year, and where they aired:
The Brady Bunch/MeTV
Cedar Cove/Hallmark
Dr. Quinn, Medicine Woman/INSP
Heartland/Up
Julia/Aspire
The Lone Ranger/WHT
Merv Griffin/Get TV
The Musketeers/BBC America
The Odd Couple/MeTV
Reign/CW
Saving Hope/Ion
The Waltons/Hallmark, INSP or Up
WKRP in Cincinnati/Antenna TV
about one old movie a month on TCM
I watch the newer series when they air weekly. Even though the reruns air every day, I probably watch them once a week.
I realize that CW, Antenna TV and MeTV are OTA, but I cannot get the signals at the apartment. My city does not have an Ion affiliate.

I too am not interested in watching sports on TV. Most times even when there is "nothing on" I am able to find a movie on one of cable channels or something like Boston Legal which has not been on regular TV for years.

I wouldn't classify MeTv, GetTv , and Antenna Tv as cable channels. Their more like Digital Subchannels

Well MeTV must have some connection to cable. We pick up plenty of digital sub-channels, but not that one. We don't subscribe to digital cable, so we're thinking that's why. Even though we get the others.

MeTV is a digital broadcast subchannel, as is Antenna TV. If you're seeing it on your cable lineup, it's because it's a local broadcast channel that the cable company negotiated to carry with the broadcast channel, or vice versa.

I believe GetTV is a digital broadcast subchannel as well.

You don't need cable to watch them.

Default what reruns air where

This is a list I've created of what reruns air where. The list is of national cable networks, some lesser-known cable channels and over-the-air digital channels. It’s not of the major OTA broadcasters or major cable current series. These are scripted comedies and dramas, cartoons, some variety shows and some better-known religious programs. Reality shows are not included.
This list is accurate as of the week of Aug. 14-20. Please be aware that networks change their lineups at random, so this list may be wrong at any time.
The list does not include airdates and times. That would take forever to compile, would be immediately out-of-date, and may even possibly break the Internet!

So just as most have said back when you originally started the thread, Antenna TV, METV, Cozi, and Get TV can be received via antenna and not cable/satellite in most cases. There are certainly exceptions.

As for the rest of the list this is the same drum I have banged any time someone says "cable is nothing but reality shows". They obviously arent looking hard enough.

Freeform (in your list) is a perfect example. Their original shows "Guilt", "Dead of Summer", "The Fosters". etc are solid shows folks should check out. AMC is another ones that has loads of original programming.

I lost Antenna TV, METV, Cozi, and Get TV when I went from OTA TV to satellite. But I had them on cable at one time as well. I does depend upon who's doing the offering.

When we had Direct TV just a few years ago here in Denver there was a channel that did showed classic Soupy Sales including the logo for New York City's WNEW channel 5, Jack Benny and George Burns & Gracie Allen late at night. I think that channel did targeted the Jewish audience but I just don't remember the name of that channel.
