An NBC series starring William Windom, MW...AWTI was a comedy based on the works of American humorist James Thurber. It combined live action and animation. Despite the show winning an Emmy for Best Comedy and Windom winning an Emmy for his performance, NBC canceled the series after one season. Maybe not enough people understood the humor.
It was and still is my favorite sitcom even though it only lasted a season. I loved Willima Windom, Joan Hochtkiss, Lisa Gerritsen and above all, James Thurber.
I spotted this thread. One of my all time favorite shows. I've never seen a rerun of it. William Windom was great in the part. I have forgotten exactly who the characters were, but I remember he played the part of a cartoonist I believe and he drew the cartoons based upon events in his everyday life? Well it has been a longtime. I was a teen in high school then. I'm 62 now. I really enjoyed it. Only one season? That's really a shame. I thought maybe per chance it lasted 2 or 3.
Funny I don't recall The Flying Nun making it after the first season, although it did last until 1970. I guess I didn't care much for it as it was kind of silly, although I thought Sally Field was hot. Well I was a kid.

I'd put Thurber first too ... then Windom ... then Gerritson.
We're the same age and I had a sort of crush on her.
On the MTM show as well.
I once searched the Internet to see if copies of the show could be found but had no luck.
