I currently create TV shows, and work with production companies around LA on developing new series. I actually just made a deal with a pro co this last week on a new reality show.

Everyone in this group seems to be so passionate about TV and I'm wondering if anyone else works in the wonderful world of TV?

That sounds like a cool gig anyway. You might have more luck posting in the Work and Employment Category here on CD.

I do not work in media. I did work briefly as a temp in media (radio/newspapers), but that was years ago.

Sounds like an interesting job. May I inquire what type of reality show?

Unfortunately, we're still in development so I can't disclose that information at the moment. Stay tuned though!

I have been a huge tv consumer forever. Even in those days when tv was derided as the idiot box.

Have no job in tv, lot of complains about declining quality tho. The only reality show I've ever watched is Survivor (in case you were wondering)

Unfortunately I'm not, but my son was/is. He still gets some work here and there, but is finding it difficult at the moment to get any ongoing work. Right now he's working on a documentary for a few weeks on contract as an editor.

It certainly would be an interesting field.

I think my question puts this more into the Work category, but how did you get into creating for TV? If you'd asked people if they have thought about working in TV, I think you'd have gotten many more affirmative replies (I mean, geez, millions of people probably have fantasized about being actors). Meanwhile, those actually in the industry probably prefer private online groups.

Whenever you watch a reality show that you like, make note of the production company in the credits at the end and go to their website. You can usually apply for shows they produce there.
