MTV has been unwatchable since the late 80's when they stopped
showing Beavis and Butthead and gave up music stuff for reality
and rap.
It was much to my pleasant surprise that they have actually been
able to find an hour of good Tv out ot 24. ! Hey, its a start !
I love Grounded for Life. Its harmless and well written entertainment.
What really appeals to me is how believable the characters are.
Growing up outside of the Philly area, this is really an accurate
description of many boomer families I knew. I've met each of those
characters a few times in my life
What are you thoughts, if any ?
What makes it even better is that they follow it with South Park.....
I enjoyed MTV in the early days when they showed music videos. I really liked the show Remote Control. I even liked Road Rules when it first began.
Now, the whole channel is dead to me. It is nothing but pure dreck and garbage.
I totally agree, but the show I posted about is not an
MTV show. Its something they picked up in syndication.
I remember being glued, scared to even blink, at MTV's network
debut with "Video killed the Radio Star". Their watchibility
and validity as a music entity was pretty much done by around
1990 or so....
Since then, they are just for-profit venue for promoting a lifestyle.
A 23 hour a day commercial for business's catering to that demographic.
I was a huge fan of "GFL" in its first run on (IIRC) Fox a few years ago. Some really good actors, Donal Logue and the sweety (can't remember her name) that plays his wife, she plays "Puddy's" wife on a current show. I was scrolling through the cable listings the other day and saw "GFL" and clicked on and watched 10 minutes or so. I didn't realize that I was watching MTV (first time ever) until a few minutes in.
I used to love I think it was called "Singled Out" with Jenny McCarthy! It was so trashy and funny! i vaguely remember "Undressed" It was like a soap opera sorta kinda???
