Well I am hoping (not holding my breath) that either the house bill will make progress in the morning... or Reid moved THIS vote up til Wed.... KNOWING it would fail, to have time to rework it on thursday...

They voted to go home early. They aren't coming back until July 12.

Which explains why Reid rushed it through tonight. It wasn't a political move, it was so they could get on their planes and go home early.

Its a given that once they come back, with a new WV senator in place... it should pass the first day... BUT thats little benefit for those who have not gotten any UE since late May and now are going at least another 3 weeks before they get anything... even longer if it takes the states a week or 2 to reprogram the systems....

Senate GOP again kills jobless aid extension - BostonHerald.com (http://www.bostonherald.com/news/us_politics/view/20100630senate_gop_again_kills_jobless_aid_extensi on/srvc=home&position=recent - broken link)

But since Republicans Olympia Snowe and Susan Collins of Maine voted with Democrats to advance the $33 billion measure, its passage seems assured next month once a replacement is named for Democratic Sen. Robert Byrd, who died on Monday. Democrats would then have a filibuster-proof majority for the bill.
