Ive been collecting for close to a year ($475 per week) and Im on tier 2 right now. Can someone explain to me how taking a part time job would work? If it paid less than my monthly total, would Edd make up the difference? I know in the past, this type of thing was a mess...did the last extension fix all of this?
I've been working part-time through most of my unemployment claim, so I'll explain it to you... although I'm not really sure if extension levels affect all of this. Regardless, if the earned salary is less than your bi-weekly benefits, go ahead and fill out the claim forms as usual (noting the hours worked & pre-tax earnings). They let you KEEP 25% of that money, and deduct the remaining 75% from your allowed benefits. To demonstrate, here's how mine worked:
So basically I earned $800 from my job every two weeks, with an added $350 from UI benefits... a little more than UI alone, so it's worth taking even part-time work. Like I said, I'm not sure if extension levels will affect this - but so far I haven't noticed any changes, even when I moved onto a new tier.
I've been working a part-time job all along, and haven't had any problems.
