So, Washington is hinting on a tax/unemployment compromise. If such a compromise is made, I would question:

Would an extension be available only to those currently getting federal benefits, or, would extensions also be given to those about to expire their state extended benefits?

Since there is no extension as of today there are no answers. But thoughts?

It just depends upon how long the new legislation is for. It would be an extension of EUC and EB, just as it was before it expired. Regular state benefits never expire. All states offer some form of 26 - 30 weeks benefits. MA offers 30 (when federal extensions aren't active). The question is time. If the current extension of the legislation is only for a few months, those on regular state benefits might not be within the time frame for any EUC/EB.

Maybe. Maybe not. EB is a separate amendment from the tiers, as the FAC and Cobra subsidy were. FAC and Cobra subsidy have been discontinued. Congress could choose to extend the tiers but not EB, or shorten the weeks in the tiers and EB, or any variation thereof. There is no guarantee that the EUC tiers and EB will be extended in their current forms. We just have to wait and see.

^ Sorry about that. Didn't mean to misinform. There are so many threads, I try to stay on top of them, but sometimes critical info passes me by. Thanks for the info!
