I just logged in to my bank account to see that my payment wasnt posted to my account last week. I filed my claim 12/28/09 and my benefit year ended 1/2/2011. Today when I tried to recertify it said to call the NY UI number to see if I am still eligible for "extended benefits" but I am barely in Tier 2. Can someone please explain this to me. Has my eligibility expired?

I am reading the FAQ online. It says:

Benefit year ending date (BYE) The date an unemployment insurance claim ends and you can no longer collect benefits on your claim. The date of the BYE for your claim can be found on the website under View Payment History. If you remain unemployed after the BYE date and believe that you had sufficient employment in the past year to qualify for a new claim, you must immediately file a new claim, either on our website or by calling the Telephone Claims Center.

My BYE was 1/2/2011, but I thought I got 99 weeks so I did not know I was supposed to do this. Have I lost the remaining of my weeks now? Please help. I will call UI first thing Monday.

Also, have I lost these last 2 weeks of pay? I certified my claim but my payments are not posted.

Thanks for the assistance

As NY has told you, your benefit year has ended. They ask that you call them to recertify. This happens to everyone at the end of a benefit year. NY is required to review your earnings this past benefit year. If you did not work, or you did and your earnings are insufficient to open a new state claim, your 'application' is denied and your old claim is reopened, at which point you will continue to collect your EUC tier benefits.

Call NY. Nothing will happen until you do.

ok thank you. I will call Monday. I have been recertifying since my BYE ended but did not notice the failure to deposit in my account.

Will I receive the last few weeks retroactively?

Thanks for your help

I do not know. Ask NY when you call. Some states pay retro, some don't.

Does anyone from NY know the answer to this? Monday can't come soon enough.

Monday is Martin Luther King Day. All our government offices, post offices and banks in WI are closed. So, you may have to wait until Tues., unless NY is not recognizing this holiday. I doubt it, though.

As long as you have been reporting regularly during this period -- and you do not qualify for a new claim -- you will receive benefits retroactively for the period from your BYE through the date when you re-certify (and your existing claim is reopened).

My benefit year just ended last week so today i called up and told them that i was calling to reinstate my claim and that i hadnt worked all year. The person i spoke with made me file a new claim. Im new to this forum as well and im just trying to understand this. Did this person make me to the right thing by filing a brand new claim or was their something else i shouldve told her and done ??
