So my initial unemployment claim is expiring in October. I was told that I need to file a new claim. After talking to an EDD worker I was told that my claim would drop to less than $200 but that they would try to put me on an extension instead of the new claim so I could keep my previous weekly allotment. He didn't tell me how they would do this but I'm assuming it's the DNCP/HR 4213 thing I keep hearing about. I wasn't unemployed until October 2010 and have been working part time (like 5 hrs/wk) since April. Does it sound like I qualify for this program? If you have any knowledgeable input, please respond. I soooo confused....

Per California, you qualify for the program provided:

- your initial benefit year ends after July 24, 2010
- you have remaining entitlement to EUC on that claim
- your new claim is at least $100 or 25% less than your old one
- you did not earn enough income in another state during that initial benefit year to qualify for a new claim
