Hi, I have been receiving UI benefits in GA for about 3 weeks. Today I got notice that my employer has appealed and a hearing will be scheduled shortly. I'm not worried about the appeal, my former employer in grasping at straws, but I am wondering this: will I continue to receive benefits while this appeal is filed yet unresolved? I filed my weekly claim today and with Monday being a holiday I don't know if I have anyway of finding out if payments are suspended pending outcome or if they continue to pay throughout the process. I'm concerned because we depend on it to eat and pay rent and I can't afford for a lapse in payment, and I'm super anxious waiting until Tuesday which will be my first opportunity to contact DOL.

So will my payments keep getting deposited while this appeal from my employer is processed? Any info appreciated, this issue is not addressed in the handbook. Cheers!

Assuming you went through the normal application, interview, approval process, employer was contacted, objected, and GA still approved the claim, then, yes, you will continue to receive benefits while the appeal is pending.

You've assumed correct and thank you. The only thing hinky is that I was approved and began receiving benefits and THEN they appealed. They appealed within the 15 days but barely and benefits had begun. I received them for 3 weeks BEFORE the appeal letter was mailed to me.

Well, at least they timely filed. Many employers don't appeal within the proper timeframe - and, yet, the states will almost always schedule an appeal - some as long as a year after benefits have been paid. States bend over backwards to accommodate employers - but heaven help the claimant who doesn't file timely. He doesn't get the same consideration. System is skewed to the employer - always.
