Im finding it impossible to get in contact with EDD on the phone. It doesn't even give the option to stay on hold it just hangs up. Ive send messages with no responses, tried calling literally 100 times. After submitting my claim it says I am disqualified for both weeks, I've made sure I answered all questions properly that I am available for work and have been looking, filled out CalJOBS resume etc..I just need to speak with someone and it's impossible. Wondering if anyone has had any luck?
I also tried over 100 times today. Three times I got through and did the automated steps to speak to a representative, but after going through five minutes of that, it said that the system was unavailable, said "goodbye," and hung up.
For help with a claim or payment information, call 1-800-300-5616, open from 6am – 8pm. First call was the “experiencing large volume of calls. When you hear to words "welcome" press 1 for English. When you hear the automated voice talking, hit 5 1 1 0, and you should be put on the waitlist.
The EDD launched a new call center operation to assist customers. Call 1-833-978-2511 seven days a week, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., if you need technical help with accessing UI Online, help with receiving an EDD Customer Account Number, and other general UI questions. Representatives will not have access to your claim or payment information.
I got through twice on Sunday. The first time, I started calling at 7:40 am over and over, back to back, and ended up getting through shortly after 8. The second time, I called around 3 PM and was able to speak to a rep after waiting for about 45 min. I explained my issue, and she told me a specialist could be able to better assist me, so I spent around 4 hours waiting. I lost hope around two hours in but decided to keep waiting until 8 PM when they close. Someone got on the line around 745 and was able to lift the hold that was keeping me from getting paid!
My tips- start HELLA early. Ask to speak to a specialist right off the bat. If you’re placed on hold, put it on speaker and wait it out. Sunday may be a good day to try based on my experience. Best of luck!!
I used to work for EDD and the last time that people really had trouble contacting EDD was in 2010-2012 when everyone was calling about extensions. I worked for EDD until 2017 and from 2014-2017 I used to always get people through within a minute or so. I would just put them on hold and call the standard 800 number and press 5110.
I spoke to a former colleague a few weeks ago regarding how the volume has been handled and she said over 85% of claims were being handled with no staff intervention. So no phone interviews or identity verification for those claims.
I'm not trying to hype up EDD here. I left because it was a cesspool but what is the main reason people call now? Just checking on status and people who got denied that are only eligible for PUA?
Im asking because I may be furloughed soon and I'm wondering how long I'll be waiting for a first check.
Thanks.
