Hello everyone,

First post ever on this forum. Sorry If my etiquette is off.

I was certifying for unemployment benefits (California/Edd) and reported that I searched for work, and gave contact details of employers that I applied to. I applied to multiple different jobs, however when filling out my application I got stuck on autopilot mode and answered "no" to the question "do you have any other work search history to report?" even though I did. Will I be penalized for this? None of the outcomes of the applications that I forgot to submit differed from what I reported (all no response or not hired), so it's not like I actually got hired or received any money, but still. I dunno if forgetting to report every place I applied to is that big of a deal or not, but still, I'm worried about potential penalties, and wondering what solutions there would be if this was a problem. Answers to my questions and potential solutions (if I need them) would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

You can relax. You don't even need to list the places you apply too on there unless you wan too (you can just bypass that screen by clicking next). I just use a notepad and write the company name/position/date and time I applied/url link (keep this info in case they ever ask). I use indeed, which always sends application confirmations which makes it super easy and serves as proof if they ask.

Here is a paragraph quoted from the link below for that specific question:

https://edd.ca.gov/pdf_pub_ctr/de1275b.pdf

"You do not need to submit your work-search record each week to the EDD, but you should maintain a record that is immediately available if the EDD asks for your work-search information. Follow the work-search instructions on the Notice of Unemployment Insurance Award, DE 429Z."

I'm wondering why the work search history question was there in the first place.
That section for me disappeared from the EDD certification page at the end of last year around December.

Unless the box is marked with a check that you need to report work search you can skip filling the work searching in.
