Not sure if this has already been posted. If it has, I apologize. This is truly a depressing figure.

Thanks for this. The statistic I found most revealing was that only 13% of people who were unemployed last August had found full time employment by this March. That is horrible!

Wow, that is depressing, though it sure makes me feel less like such a loser for not having a job. I've been out of a job a bit longer than August, but not by much.

Obama can say it and of course the msm is reporting how the recession is over and we're in a good recovery, but what has changed? The borders are still wide open and cheap labor is pouring into the country, NAFTA and GATT were never put back on the table, jobs are still being sent out of the country to anywhere with cheap labor. It's still a globalist economy.

Things won't turn around until manufacturing is brought back to the USA. But - how can we do that when China now owns us?

I do agree with you.

My friend told me that the rule of thumb is for every $10,000 of your salary, it takes one month to find a job if you were unemployed. So if you were earning $50,000 then it would take around 5 months before you find a similar position with at least the same salary. Not sure how he came up with that rule, but it sounds ok to me.

Good luck with that one in today's economy, I should have found a job 12 months ago then.

First of all, what do you expect Obama or any other President to say? Part of their job is to keep people's hopes up. Just imagine the reaction if he went out there and said, "the economy stinks and the jobs aren't coming back." As for the MSM, I can see why they want to say the economy is good. For starters, few of them even understand how the economy works so all it takes is for one indicator to go up for them to declare that the economy is recovering. In regards to the flow of cheap labor into this country, closing the borders is not the answer. The people who are coming here will do anything and everything they can to get in. Why? Because this is where the jobs are. You can't have serious immigration reform without cracking down on the employers who hire undocumented workers. But a certain pro-business party will never do that because they know that businesses here love having a source of unlimited cheap labor that can be exploited. Outsourcing will also continue as long as companies can find cheaper labor overseas. And a big reason why they do is because it costs so much to provide health care to employees here. Imagine being a small business and trying to provide health insurance for all your employees when the premiums go up by double digits every year.

Wonder why health care premiums keep going up each year. Maybe because it is one of the fields that is actually growing?
