I don't have to lock my house at night. And my keys are in my car in my driveway. If for some reason I needed my local police, they'd be here quickly.

Just because you lived in a crappy city in England doesn't mean the entire nation is the same.

MTA: my entire county including 26 islands only has a population of 90,000. And quite safe.
I haven't seen a city yet in the UK that I wouldn't call crappy. That includes the cities I saw in Scotland.

I suppose there's nothing better to do at 10pm over there? Pub closed? Nowt good on telly?

I don't live in a city, not even a town. Don't need a pub for entertainment. I like it quiet, thanks. I like outdoor pursuits like canoeing in the loch in front of my house and hiking up the mountains.

And they don't say nowt in Scotland, hen.

She's already on my ignore list. Life's too short for putting up with self-hating Americans; I dealt with enough of those when I lived abroad.

I had to go to Sheffield all the time for work...yikes, I didn't like it at all. I lived in York. It was much smaller, much prettier...and had far fewer employment opportunities!
