Hi all
Just wondering if you can help me. I was contacted yesterday by a recruitment agency who explained a post that was available that I was very interested in. They had picked up my CV because I had the qualities that they wanted for this post, plus the experience and degree. However later in the day they said that due to my current salary they wouldn’t offer me an interview. I am on an extremely low wage as I was bullied studying for my PhD severely so I came home and took the first job that was offered and I cannot stand to not work for a living. I have been through some intensive counselling and now feel ready to move on.
Is it legal to discriminate in this way? I feel like though I did the right thing by taking a job that, don’t get me wrong, I enjoy and has taught me a lot I am being overlooked because I don’t earn a lot instead of them looking at my skills which picked me out for the job in the first place. Has this happened to anyone else?
Thanks in advance
