They don't think it is the best church, they think they are superior and some of them hate catholics.

I'm guessing there's not a large Catholic population around you that you could tell by experience? In my experience, there's a style difference between traditional Protestants and Catholics. Traditional protestants seem to go more literal interpretations of the bible and seem a bit pushier about their beliefs, but that could just be in the US.

This group sounds rather serious. Hard to compare to today since it's the late 70s:

The problems in Northern Ireland have very little to do with religion.

No I think they kind of believe similar things it's just the way they would go about in believing it. Like Protestants would go about with alot more social interaction and charity. I mean in the presbyterian church they have the woman's institute, they have the sunday school, they have presbyterian woman etc. They have umpteen charity events also.

What does the catholic church do? Absolutely nothing.

Yes it does. It's always been that way and I think that's the issue throughout the UK. English people like to give off this vibe that they are so multicultural and have nothing against other religions but as soon as the Catholic church or Irish people are mentioned they have an absolute fit. Sorry to tell you but there are still people in England with a grudge against Ireland and the Catholic church, I mean we only have to look at the Queen, it is against the law to marry a Catholic (they have actually went out and highlighted that). When I watch british programmes I often see them making fun of nuns etc and fine it might be a joke but I don't find it very funny and to be honest it speaks volumes on their real opinion.

Some people in England make it a top priority to call their country Great Britain instead of the UK also to try and exclude NI and no offence but england isn't that Great...

Maybe that's true in Northern Ireland. The Catholic Church certainly has Sunday School. And they do run a rather large charity organization, and in general seem more concerned about social justice issues. You rarely see Catholics making a fuss about say, evolution. Here's the local Catholic diocese:

One might imagine they would have other issues to be concerned about other than social justice. And, seriously, what parent would want to send their kids to Sunday school there?
