Can I come?

They look lovely.

I have been to Arran- we were staying with friends of my parents in West Kilbride.

From my bedroom I could see the island if there wasn't Scotch Mist.

Of course plenty of room... staying in Portavadie marina for a few days then moving on to Kilmelford so we should see a good part of the areas and hopefully visit some islands.

Enjoy Dizzy! I love the islands.

I've been to Arran, Iona, Mull, Bute, Barra, Vatersay, Colonsay, Skye, Easdale, Seil (barely an island), Islay. Still want to visit the Orkneys, Harris and Lewis.

My youngest grandson is Aaron and I think he would have been better with the island spelling.

The ferries are very expensive if you take a car. Since we live in Argyll it's very easy to get to Oban for the ferries. Now that we both have free bus passes we can easily get to Oban, take the ferry to Mull as passengers only, then take a free bus to Fionnphort for a short ferry trip across to Iona. There is a very nice eco-hostel there for only £21/night.

We've done one week stays on Colonsay twice, but needed to take the car. Skye requires a car as well.

When we spent a week on Barra a couple of years ago we saw no need to pay for taking the car over as we wouldn't really have needed it once we got the island. So we did long term parking in Oban and took everywhere over on our bikes. They were really loaded down! We were really lucky as it only rained on one day.
