From the Southern Poverty Law Center:

Thomas Mair, alleged killer of British MP Jo Cox, was a longtime supporter of the neo-Nazi National Alliance.

The main issue here is the fact he was mentally ill, as his brother Scott clearly points out.

I think if anything it shows the need for better security in terms of MP's and better mental health services and more investment in mental health.

This man's politics are not really the issue here.
Mental health policy in this country, seems to have fallen between the cracks over the last few years, with governments of both colours showing little or no concern for sufferers, preferring instead to let them roam in the community rather than offer specialist care!

Some of the reactionary British media have already labelled him a "nut job", which I think is incredibly insensitive for a man who clearly incapable of rational thought.

There have been numerous instances where mentally ill people have attacked and sometimes killed innocent people, usually because they have not been able to gain access to the care they desperately need (usually down to cost)

Whether the brutal murder of an MP will open the eyes of this inept government and actually do something to not only help those with mental problems, but by the same token keep the general public safe from harm, is a moot point.

I hope Mrs Cox family receive all the support they need during this difficult time; as well as the person who tried to save her life at the hands of her killer.

letting mentally ill people roam free in the community is a policy of the left and has been for more than thirty days , liberals oppose the idea of incarcerating people in institutions , the result has been a massive increase in homeless and prison numbers as well as the occasional unprovoked murder

Properly funded Community Mental Health Support Teams can be a succesful alternative to institutions, however more mental health beds need to be provided for those in crisis. We certainly don't want old fashioned Mental Institutions, as they were awful places whose only objective was to incarcerate and hide away the mentally ill from society rather than treat them .

Would you have a liberal left country or far right? Looks like liberal left is not working.
There is plenty wrong with Britain First & anyone who supports them...

And no, Brits are not sick of Muslims & refugees, only the knuckle dragging Sun reading Britain First supporters have a problem with it. Most sane minded Brits have no problem with them, or with there being a Muslim Mayor of London
