Oh Lord, I cannot imagine the anguish a parent goes through losing one kid, much less two the same day.

Years ago a friend of mine died when he was hit on a motorcycle a few blocks from home by an illegal alien who didn't know a red STOP sign meant he must break. He obviously didn't intend to kill my friend, but it was a tragedy nevertheless. He was a great guy snuff out before he really had a chance to live.
I remember going to the parents house a few weeks after the funeral to see how they were doing, and if I could do anything for them. They invited me in where they had been sitting for days, and both were catatonic.
It was their only child and their world revolved around him. Now he was gone and they were obviously too old to have any other kids. Still it was as if 3 people died, with the two survivors just going through the motions of living.

I hope these parents lives (though forever changed) can still have some meaning, but losing kids in tragic events has to be one of the toughest things a heart must bear.

SO hard to contemplate and hope none of us have to go through it..... A woman I knew years ago is still in a state of shock and grief since her son died on holiday 20 years ago.. her whole personality and looks have changed overnight.... by losing her son who was a teenager...
