Yes he did . But as you can see... even if you come in second place - you can get the boot! Did you ever see the American show LA LAw? Remember Bernie? The slow chap who delivered the mail around the office? I swear he's Grant's twin brother..lol!
The Yanks are loved for being America's team but reviled for being corporate and buying their way to endless boring championships. The Red Sox are dirty thugs who always hated being in the Yankees' shadow. The Cubs are lovable losers. Anything like this is Britain? Who do most Londoners support?
If Londoners support a local league team then it'll be chelsea, Arsenal, west ham, tottenham, Fulham (all top flight teams), QPR, Brentford, Luton Town, Leyton Orient. There's 92 league teams split into 4 divisions plus a number of semi professional teams as well. Depends whether you'll support the 'local' team to the area of London or not.
Some rivalaries are very bad and unfortunately attracted a lot of thugs to the game during the 80's when street battles amongst a small percentage wasn't uncommon. Nowadays games are heavily policed and this has attracted a more family atmosphere. However many clubs have chants and songs which including swearing. If you get to a game where rivalry is feirce you'll hear some 'interesing' songs. Football (soccer) in the UK has been called a religion by many. Anyway - enjoy if you do go to see a match.

I'm going to assume the fans of the London teams are going to vary in wealth, devotion, passion, and have other defining traits. White collar, blue collar, violent, hostile, laid back, etc....

What do you think about the differences?
I'd say that most clubs have a mix of fans although Chelsea and Arsenal both have a large corporate fanbase and have the availibility of expensive corporote boxes (these usually hold 6-12 people and normally include lunch are in a great position). Boxes at these 2 top clubs go for in excess of £4K ($8K) a game!
Most disliked London team I'd say is Chelsea due to Abranovich (russian billionaire and 7/8th richest person in Europe). He's invested crazy sums of money into his team (over £500m - $1b) in 5 years so far! Often paying players to stop other teams having them!
