A patient was so disgusted at the "filthy" hospital ward she was being treated on that she forced herself out of bed and cleaned it while still attached to a drip.

At least she was able to be in the hospital and cared for. In the US if she had no insurance, too bad, so sad.

Would they deny her treatment there? I thought she would still be able to.

If you have no insurance or can't pay, you must be treated for emergency treatment. If you are indigent, most counties/states have public hospitals.

But if you are one of the 30 million workingAmericans who don't qualify for public funds, then yes....no money....no treatment.

That is pretty ridiculous that a country as rich as the U.S cannot even provide those hard working Americans free health care.

Most Americans without health care coverage don't even want free health care. They just want to be able to get insurance coverage at a reasonable price. But the wacko rightwing nuts in the country don't want to publicize this. They want everyone to believe that Obama is going to socialize the system and take away choice.

Hopefully some meaningful reform will come with this administration

I don't think anything anyone said could have gotten through my liberal defenses.
My loss of 'faith' was all my doing. One of the first things I noticed, or began realizing was how
easy it would be to slaughter the logic. Next, realizing why that was. After that, GOP here I come.
Who knows, having to clean her own hospital room might have resulted in another Tory.
It's the maturing process. Most people eventually get it.

John, I've seen a few "disgusting" conditions in (private) hospitals here too, along with patients who cannot get treatment because they cannot afford it. Did you post this article to scare people away from universal healthcare, just like the Republicans and their sheep are doing right now?

You can find plenty of horror stories both in the US and the UK, yet the UK at least covers 100% of its citizens. rich or poor. Right now, I would love the luxury of being able to go to a doctor without them asking for my credit card / insurance card first.
