I posted a similar poll in the Canadian subforum, just to gauge people's opinions on healthcare.

I'd like to know if any of you would consider swapping the NHS for a privatised healthcare system, much like the US's "for-profit" system.

The pros: fewer waiting lists, reduced taxes
The cons: unaffordable healthcare, potentially millions of uninsured

What are your thoughts (or just vote)? Personally, I'd never swap the NHS for a "for profit" system, waiting lists and all.

I would never get rid of the NHS, it has benefited alot of people.

Remember that you have the option of private care here too so you have the best of both worlds.

....and supplemental private insurance in the UK is dirt cheap (or at least it was when I lived there).

This poll doesn't make much sense...I have both public and private healthcare in the UK. My dental checkups I did on the NHS, but my fillings etc. I did privately. I would pick and choose. If I needed to talk to a doctor about something - NHS. If I needed a scan - private, because I want it at the time that best fits me and as soon as possible.

Would I scrap the NHS so that everyone had to have private insurance? No way. But if that's the real question, this needs to be asked much more clearly.

Didn't we just go through this same basic question a little while back?

What's your opinion on Universal Health Care/The NHS?
