I am wondering if the midwifery standards and certifications are the same in the UK as they are in the USA. (You must, in general, have a Bachelor's degree in Nursing and then get the equivalent of a Master's in Midwifery). I was just wondering, as I read an article recently about how midwives are main caregivers in hospitals in the UK, while they are practically lepers in the medical community here in the US.
Is the schooling or certification more difficult or comprehensive? Or is it just another difference in the United States' healthcare... :-)
