I will be looking for a place to intern in a year for Orange County. Any ideas? Also, which has a better job security when there are jobs-private firms or government jobs? I heard firms lay off less.

Any suggestions? Costa Mesa, Santa Ana, Irvine, Huntington Beach? Any cities or private firms?

Find Jobs: Search millions of jobs now | Monster.com

I am vactioning with my wife's family in California now and I gotta tell ya the news is just beyond depressing. The unemployment rate is still above 12% officially, the folks that one the new majority want to turn away the funds for expansion of high speed rail, home building is still contracting:

Republicans want high-speed rail money back | want, rail, republican - News - The Orange County Register

California unemployment rate again the third-highest in nation | Money & Company | Los Angeles Times

Only two jobs on monster for all the country, both sound tied to Homeland Security, which may be facing cutbacks itself: Find Jobs: Search millions of jobs now | Monster.com

I agree we can put that money to better use. Stupid high speed rail is worthless. It's years away from being built and is putting in a bad situation now.

Planning jobs will come back like they were in 07-08.

The City's clue-free mindset never fails to amaze me. He is like the opposite of knowledge in digital form.

Orange County got hit the least hardest in this recession and I bet when the economy picks up some wealthy cities will be hiring. Of course, I am going to need 2 yrs of experience and a GIS certificate if I want that job eventually.

And I think that's be realistic.
