Quickest? Most efficient? Asthetically pleasing? Etc?

Heavy rail on its own tracks and system. Only a few cities in the U.S. have really mastered this, NY, Chicago, Washington DC, and perhaps Boston. I especially like Washington's Metro...very nice system with efficient stations and trains.

that's light rail. that's what we are building.. I'm in a tie between light rail and heavy rail. I like that with light rail if you don't know the place that well you can always look outside and see where you are at lol

Of course subway, but it costs more to build. It is difficult to make rail aesthetically pleasing so the best way is to put it underground so that people can't see it at the street level.

Commuter Rail by far, I hate the Subway, in NYC its so crowded the trains are old, bummy, dirty, slow and shake more violently compared to the Commuter Rail (Long Island Railroad), I haven't taken the Subway in over 3 years. I mostly take the bus and 80% of the buses I take are old, trashy and dirty some even have holes in them, the other 20% are new low floor buses, which are always clean and they function properly.

I do like DC's subway though.

The Long Island Railroad. It will take me about a half an hour to go home from Jamaica station to Babylon tomorrow afternoon. Funny thing is, there are parts of suburban Long Island or N. New Jersey where it is easier to get to Manhattan than parts of the outer boroughs can get to Manhattan!

I like catching a bus at a street corner. I like the efficiency of rapid transit. Light rail is a good middle ground, too.

Subways are grade seperated so they're faster, they can run directly under desirable areas without interfering with the layout or traffic.
