For those of you that choose to live in suburbs.

If the crime rates in the cities were as low as rural areas and rent prices were lower would you be me interested in living in them?

Absolutely NO! I would not live in a city no matter how good the stats were. I hate density. A city is completely contrary to the lifestyle I enjoy.

Do you live in the suburbs?

I didn't vote because I'm kinda undecided. Crime does play a role for me. But so does price. And while I like the idea of being able to walk more and depend on my car less, I don't really like high density areas.

So I would be a maybe. Or an 'it depends.'

Your question is too simplistic. There are too many other factors involved in deciding where to live.

Crime is not really a factor, the question doesn't make a lot of sense

Unfortunately it won't allow a thorough question.

I'm aware people factor in many things (job, cost of living, transit, crime, etc) but was curious how much crime sways them.

I personally won't live in an area that has a lot of crime. But, if the crime rate of cities was down to 1500/100k people (similar to Singapore and Japa I think people would migrate back into them.

Not every part of an inner city has high crime. I choose city living.

There are inner city neighborhoods where the crime rate is similar to the suburbs in the metro area. And there are suburbs with high crime rates. It's a matter of demographics, though I imagine usually a city would have a slightly higher crime rate because more people pass through.
