Police: Man shoots, kills would-be carjacker outside store

Are you kidding me. This happened in Orem, UT. One of the safest cities in the country. I used to live nearby in Provo some years ago. This is like Oakland or Detroit type crime happening in Orem? WTH?

Orem ranked in top 20 safest cities in U.S.

Well, there's crime anywhere there are humans - the rates simply differ area to area.

Many of our Utah cities not only have relatively low crime rates, they also have high crime clearance rates. In other words, crimes are more likely to be solved and the culpable person(s) brought to justice.

One way to stop a carjacking. I remember when I lived in either TN or MI (forgot) two guys tried to carjack an off-duty police LT. Guess how that ended up. (Hint: there was one less carjacker in the world.)

What many people don't realize is that carjacking is also a Federal offense. One of those Federal codes that got the states all peed off since they all thought it should only be a state offense. (US Code Title 18, Part I, Chapter 103.)

there are few things I like better than "instant justice". If someone tries that crap they should pay with their lives. Think of all the tax payers money we just saved, and so now it can go to the school systems bottomless pit.
