Try priceline "express deals", you will still get a nice discount.
$130 will get you a 4-star property in downtown Vancouver.
By the way, there are some coupon codes online. Maybe you will get another 5% off on your express deals.
The skytrain seems to be pretty good. If you want to save more, you can live in cheaper area like Vancouver airport and take the skytrain to downtown.
Last but no least, don't give up priceline Name Your Own Price yet! If the express deals say you can get a room for a specific star level and zone for $128, try bidding $120 and increment by 2 if it doesn't work. Biddingfortravel and betterbidding are some of the best websites to learn bidding strategy.
It's only for one night, so I ended up deciding to save some money this time by staying in the airport area. I got Delta Vancouver for $75 USD using priceline's name your own price feature. I wish I could have stayed longer in Vancouver, it's a beautiful city, but this cruise was a last minute deal for $255 per person for 7 nights, so no time.

You'll be fine, the skytrain ride into downtown from the airport is only 25 comfortable minutes on a pretty cool train with some great views before it goes underground. Worth the savings IMHO.
