Well they are both great but I would choose Vancouver for the weather alone!!
I lived in North Van and was fortunate to eat in many fine restaurants, you would have to learn to cook seafood properly however (Halifax!) because not all chefs in the west do it properly they are very good at steaks so I am told...

depending on your specialty there are many wonderful restaurants in BC ... I would hate to work or live in Ontario... too hot in summer too cold in winter ...been there done that ... Alberta has some good restaurants too and the sun shines more there than in any other province and has 4 seasons and the wonderful Chinooks.

A good place to work in BC is in the interior, near the vineyards , areas where there are a lot of tourists all year round, it is almost the forgotten west and is truly sublime, the weather is perfect almost all the time JMHO and there are some lovely wee cities that hardly ever see a traffic jam ...

Well that is just my opinion, if I move back to BC it will be in the 'interior' somewhere, (Salmon Arm comes to mind)
The coast is not too far away if the need to be in the 'city' hits you !

I don't know if this helps you or not! follow your heart, if you are happy the jobs will come and you will be happy wherever you are.
