Hello,
My husband and i are looking to relocate outside of the Orange County/LA area (too crowded and smoggy, not enough nature). We are both 24 and have a 3 year old and soon planning on having another child. We love the Santa Barbara area because of its downtown atmosphere for our nights out and likewise because it seems so family oriented, but since it is so pricey were thinking of areas that are similar in the surrounding vicinity. The main things we are looking for is somewhere close to the beach and to the mountains for hiking, family oriented yet still young and hip for nights out, SAFE, primarily English speaking, good schools, you get the gist. We dont want to be in the heart of the city or out in the boon docks. Would Ventura be a candidate? Ojai? Carpinteria? If not, please let me know with other suggestions. My husband is a computer science engineer and i an interior designer so career location is pretty flexible. Thanks for all of your help!

Where is (are) his job(s) going to be? Where are your jobs going to be? That makes all the difference in the world.

Are you going to rent or buy?
What is your budget?

Have you researched schools?

Yes, all of those places will make you happy - as long as you can find a job which will support your living expenses.
