Just about stepped on this yesterday at Bird Mountain WMA, even a rural place isn't immune from this garbage:

That's pretty unpleasant. Of course, we don't know if it's from illegal drug use or from someone who needed to give him/herself an insulin injection.

I didn't notice any label saying insulin or such. Are they usually labelled? Don't have diabetes myself...but still, people shouldn't be leaving these things around, whether illegal drugs or legal. I've seen them in the city, stuck where the needle was sticking up. Last thing on earth I'd want to do is get poked by someone's needle...

just for the info - it wouldn't be labeled as used for insulin unless it was an insulin pen.

I use some for insulin and my brother uses them for M.S. - same basic needle

That's good to know. I'll still be avoiding them needles though...

Slob behavior is slob behavior.

I wonder if state employees participating in Green-Up Day have any special instructions for dealing with something like this.

Very common sight I see in Burlington usually with no caps on them. They usually shoot up in their cars on a quiet side street and then just dump the needles out the window.

I don't live in Vermont but in my old neighborhood in Manassas, I could walk outside my front door and step on these things. I used to do neighborhood cleanup and pick them up all the time....then, there were just too many and I got used to them so I just didn't care anymore.

I don't think any area is immune to needles anymore....some just have them more than others.
