OK I know this is nutty, but home hunting. We like the mountain areas more than the lake and are thinking of moving to the Stowe area. (Stowe particularly for the school district) I have read all the ups and downs of living in Stowe (tourist traffic, high taxes, etc).

But just wondering, does anyone actually live in Stowe (or general area) and commute to work in Burlington? Would like to hear what that is like day-in and day-out....

Thanks!
House hunting

We live just outside Stowe and we don't mind the commute at all. I think you'll hear the complaints about Route 100 being pretty jammed. Check out the Waterbury area...easy access to 89 and the schools are good. Winter driving will add more time of course. If you don't mind driving, than it's not that bad.

I would agree with Waterbury, I guess you can do the south side of Stowe but anything further north or on 108 will add a lot of time, especially in winter. Also, keep in mind that Stowe/Morrisville might combine school districts in the future (and maybe Hyde Park and Elmore? I can't remember) so that might change the school situation a bit.

In the 60's-70's about 5 people made the commute. In the 80's it went up to a 'bunch'. By my standards it's now a main commuter route.
