Thinking of driving up to the Killington area. How's the skiing/snowboarding these days ?(Winter is non-existent down here)...and anyone have any VERY CHEAP places you know of where some friends (4 of us total) and I could crash for the weekend ?(I'm a teacher/professional...35 years old and friends are similar in maturity/professionals-we're not wreck your place partiers by any means). We're looking to come up just for Sat/Sun. night.

Thanks for any advice/information.

Can't help with cheap accommodations but keep in mind that it is a holiday weekend and prices will be at their premium. You may try Rutland as there are many chain hotels there.
Conditions? We have had very little natural snow. Killington can make it though. President's Weekend is usually extremely crowded and since not all the terrain is open I'm sure it'll feel even more crowded.
Sorry to be a downer but we have had very little winter here as well. I want snow too!

It snowed yesterday but mostly melted within a few hours, even up in the mountains (just a dusting anyways). Killington makes snow so you can ski there though. You won't find "cheap" accomodations in Killington. Look in the nearby towns.

If you're willing to drive another 50 min, Stay at the Hostel tevere - it's $35/night and go to Sugarbush , Mt Ellen or mad river glen . Nice little place, more inn like than hostel like I'd say. There are some deals to be had (may be too late now...) I just bought my wife a ticket for $14 at Mad River Glen.

conditions are... spring like I'd say.

Imagine the Charlie Brown disappointing sound here :Waaa Wuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu. Thanks for the info. I'm not impressed with this Global Warming thing. I thought you guys had snow up there. blah. I'll keep praying for a storm and when/if it does, I'll check out that Hostel Tevere place. I've often wondered about sugarbush. Thanks!

There was a couple inches of snow still on the ground in the mountains around Shrewsbury, but it's also covered in ice, making it hard to enjoy it, and there hasn't been a downhill ski place there since the 30's...

My wife and I used to stay at the Happy Bear Motel on the Killington Access Rd. Affordable old school ski lodge, nothing fancy but clean rooms with nice folks running the place. They still offer morning coffee in styrofoam cups, part of the charm.

Happy Bear Motel: motel, affordable lodging rates for ski vacations to Killington and Pico Vermont
