Hello there. I'm moving to the area this summer before starting grad school at VCFA. It's a little hard to find leads on rentals from here in NM. I've been researching on this forum, but thought I'd ask for the latest links and suggestions. It's myself and 2 dogs and a cat called Stevie. Two vehicles, yard, small cabin, something simple yet warm and close enough to commute in winter.
Do you know of any property managers? Newspapers? Craigslist doesn't have much.
Also, any suggestions for camping, breweries, books, walking, exploring? Thanks so much,
Sam

Welcome to Vermont. I've lived in Montpelier since 1983 and I'm a huge cheerleader for the town.

I know it can be tricky to find housing here. The local paper is the Times-Argus (www.timesargus.com) and there is also a local free paper, The World; both probably have some housing ads. You could also try the local community listserv, Front Porch Forum (frontporchforum.com); people often post that they are looking for housing.

Other potential sources:
Montpelier Property Management
Black Ink Property Management Rentals Main Page

I think you'll find that Montpelier has a lot of what you're looking for, including a few locally owned bookstores right downtown, Threepenny Taproom, which is a great place for a variety of beers, nearby breweries, great access to nature including a beautiful park right in the center of town. I really think Montpelier is the best place to live in Vermont.

Welcome to Vermont. I moved to Montpelier last July and I have been extremely satisfied with the move. I suggest checking out Morningstar Properties, they do rentals in town and a few surrounding towns. Just as the previous poster suggested, I also suggest checking out Times-Argus. Best of luck!

Thank you both! I'm excited about moving there. I even started packing up my house. I don't think I'll bring much furniture though, just keep my load to a small uhaul trailer and get a desk, chairs etc locally.

Sleam, I just responded to your post in another thread, I believe. For Montpelier rentals: Black Ink Property Mgmt., Morningstar, Montpelier Property Mgmt, and Front Porch Forum.
