I really look forward to hearing the peepers at dusk as another one of those signs from nature that spring is here. A friend has a pond behind his house and one year they were so loud it drowned out our conversation. I heard it a few times driving back from Chelsea last weekend but I'm thinking they should be out in force this weekend, dusk to evening is the best time. Way cheaper than cable.

Love that sound! Thanks for the preview.

I haven't had cable, satellite, or TV antenna in 20 years. Don't miss it a bit. The internet is another story . . .

I heard them tonight, at about 9 pm. I was in Westminster, near a beaver pond. I first thought they were crickets, until I was told they were peepers.

They sounded like crickets on steroids, or a huge cricket community chorus.

They were incredibly loud. It was a little spooky.

There is an old reservoir up the road from us and walking in that direction one can barely hear them. Then when you crest the hill the noise becomes overwhelming. Kinda reminds me of a 1950s sci-fi soundtrack. That's a sound I'd truly miss if I lived in the city.
