Has anyone else noticed this? Normally we have one or two a season stuck to us or the dog (who is on Frontline).

This year we seem to have so many on us (we hike but stay mainly on open trails).

Do they spray at all in Vermont/NH for ticks or mosquitoes?

I don't think Northern Vt gets ticks...never saw one. I've heard they're bad around Thetford. Also haven't seen a spraying for mosquitos since I left Texas, where it was weekly. (or more)

You can't really spray for ticks.

I've seen them in the southern parts of the NEK...I've found them on deer I've shot before. There's less than further South but they're there...I don't remember any when I lived close to the Canadian border.

I've never seen one in this area either. When I lived on the lower mid-coast of Maine they were bad. My neighbor has a couple of cats who are outside alot and she said they have never had a tick. In Maine, I had to check the cats often, even with Frontline they got them.

I have read that in southern New England some areas are so bad, Lyme Ct is one place, where people don't go outside much or take serious precautions. That would be a bummer.

When we used to hike in NY it was not a problem, but mainly we kept out of the tall grass. Now with a 'gun type dog' we can't do that.

Guess it's tweezers to the ready! Keeping the alcohol wipes nearby as well.

Be on the alert for Lyme disease symptoms if you or your dog get bit by ticks. Catch it early and it's a simple cure.

Of course the ticks are getting worse over time. The winters are nowhere near as cold as they used to be for as long. I think the tick population is moving northward over time as well in NH and VT.
