Ok, bought game of the year edition from Walmart. a few days ago.
After playing the game about 110 turns in the screen started to have all sorts of pattenrs and flickering colors over the map. I went back to a previously save game. Started up again when reaching 110 turns. Decided to save and load same game. Starts up with same problems.

I decided to start over. Same thing around 50 turns in.
I'm not tech savvy, so I really don't know the name of the problem. The game itself runs fine, but can't see the map hardly anymore. If I zoom in it will dissapear for short while then come back.

Who should I contact? Steam or the maker of the game?. Thanks for any advice.

Every turn makes the game more complex. More map is revealed, more units in play, etc. Before my computer was upgraded it would start to do something similar to what you describe and eventually it would reach a point where it would lock up. So I changed to starting my games with smaller maps and limiting the number of opposing civs which keeps the unit count under control. With an upgraded computer (especially a better video card), larger maps with more civs are doable.
