I bought a pre built gaming pc on New Egg a few months ago and it runs mmos very well in combat on ultra graphics settings (ESo was pretty graphic intensive in pvp and it did well). This was my first pre-built, as Dh normally builds them from scratch but he is too busy with work. I ran several models past my friends who are avid mmo gamers and have a lot of pc experience, and they thought this model had a very good price-to-features ratio.

Been pretty happy with it.

some gaming laptops are great. you can get a little more power for your $ with a desktop of course, but you can't carry it around with you. i can play mine at work, in bet, on my computer desk, etc.

I have a sager, which i highly suggest if you want a laptop. ~1500 is about what you need to spend on a model to be able to play high settings for the next few years on pretty much any game.

I think Im just gonna go ahead and build a gaming pc. My last build was in 2002 and since then Ive really just been on console.

My plan so far starts with:

Intel i7 4970k - Amazon.com: Intel Core i7-4790K Processor (8M Cache, up to 4.40 GHz) (BX80646I74790K): Computers & Accessories

AMD Radeon R9 290x - Pricey at $500 but I think I can pull it off without the wife knowing.

Still considering what boards and other peripherals (power supply, case, etc.) to go with. Want to build a good monster machine.

I'm not really going to help you here as I don't know nearly enough to give advice on hardware, but if you want a real monster, get a LPC! What's that ? Why, it's the Large Pixel Collider, a 10k$+ beast that is simply insane
PC Gamer built it, along with a smaller version for the living room.. And it's just silly. I wonder how much the electricity bill would go up with this thing running a couple of hours a day
LPC

Aw man. I wish. My wife would divorce me, then kill me.

I was able to pull some strings here and there and worked out a $2000 budget.

Going with:

Intel i7 4970k
Asus Maximus VII Formula motherboard
EVGA GTX 780 Graphics card
Corsair power, case and memory

This thing is going to be a major BEAST!!

I want to know, what do you guys think of the upcoming game: Civilizations: beyond Earth? To me that looks awesome. I would like to know what do you think about what that game might be like? Are you hyped up about it?

Ah, Ravenholm! The first time I ever played Half-Life 2 was thru Steam and it was a free trial. Got thrown into Ravenholm and thought the only weapon I had was a crowbar! Try going through that episode with only a crowbar!!! I was terrified. BUT ended up buying the game.
