I'm looking around for apartments in Alexandria and am choosing between a couple. They're both relatively close to metro stations. One (Cityside at Huntington Metro) is about a mile but has a shorter walking trail that supposedly takes 10-15 minutes to get to the Huntington Station. The other (Windsor at Arbors) is just short of two miles away so I couldn't walk to it, but they have a private shuttle that runs during rush hours during the week every 20 minutes. My question is, for those of you with experience with situations similar to either of these, how convenient/inconvenient did you find it? it seems that the one within walking distance would be more convenient regularly because I could go on my own time, but it would be an issue in bad weather. The shuttle would be good in bad weather, but I would only be able to use it during the times it ran, and I would have to wait on the 20 minute intervals. Which situation would you recommend?

You won't enjoy the walk. It's not one of those walking friendly roads.

If cost is not an issue, choose the place with the shuttle. You can time it. In the morning, get the to bus by 7:58, so you can ride the bus at 8 AM without much wait. The return might be little tricky.

You can always drive and park at Huntington Metro Station. Plenty of parking spaces, but it will cost you about $5 a day, which can add up.

You should use the DC metro trip planner to find out how often bus run from around your residence to Huntington station. If you missed the shuttle or don't feel like walking, you can hop on the bus. For example, there are three buses that run to the Cityside direction.

There is no mentioning of your wife on this thread. Why are you combining topics from other thread into this one? Stick to topic.

Oops I have two different threads going on and was replying to both without realizing it. Yeah we went with the one with the shuttle for a number of reasons.
